What should I do after I get a speeding ticket?

Check the court and response deadline printed on your citation. Ask the court what options may be available, including an approved driving safety course if you qualify. If you believe the ticket is incorrect, you may want to consult a qualified Texas traffic attorney. Don’t assume a course or court outcome will erase a ticket from your driving or insurance history. Tickets can affect how some insurance companies price or offer auto coverage. If your rate changes, Legacy Risk Group can review options among the carriers we represent.

I suspect my roof was damaged. Should I call my insurance company?

If you suspect storm damage, take photos or video from a safe place and contact your insurance agent or company promptly to ask how to report it. Make temporary repairs to prevent additional damage and keep the receipts. Don’t climb onto an unsafe roof. Ask the insurer about inspection before beginning permanent repairs when practical. Coverage depends on the cause of the damage and the policy. A new roof generally isn’t covered just because an older roof is worn out.

My auto insurance rate went up. How can I check whether I’m still paying a competitive rate?

Compare your renewal with your current policy. Check the drivers, vehicles, mileage and use, limits, deductibles, discounts, and any coverage changes. Ask your agent or insurer to explain the increase. If you shop around, compare equivalent coverage; a lower price may mean less protection. Legacy Risk Group can review your needs and compare options among the carriers we represent, including at renewal. We’ll help you compare the coverage as well as the cost.Want a second look at your renewal? Request an auto insurance review from Legacy Risk Group.

What coverage should I consider if I own a business and have employees?

The right insurance depends on your work, contracts, property, vehicles, and employee exposures. A review may include general liability, commercial property, commercial auto, cyber coverage, employment-related liability, employee dishonesty or crime coverage, and workers’ compensation. In Texas, most private employers may choose whether to carry workers’ compensation, but employers that do not carry it have notice and reporting responsibilities. Business owners may also want to discuss life insurance for an owner or key person, or coverage connected to a buy-sell agreement or business debt. These needs vary by business; review policy terms and exclusions with a licensed professional.

How can I compare business insurance rates without contacting every carrier myself?

Start before renewal if possible—about 60 to 90 days ahead gives you time to update information and review options. Gather your current policies, locations, payroll and sales figures, vehicle and driver lists, operations details, and recent claims information. Compare proposals with similar limits, deductibles, property values, and endorsements, and review exclusions as well as premium. A lower quote may leave an important gap. Legacy Risk Group can review your business coverage, seek quotes from carriers available through our agency, and revisit your program at each renewal.
